Hair Envy

As you might know, I used to have longer hair (with a sidecut) but I chopped it all off a couple of months ago to get a fresh start after 2 years of the same haircut. It was also a good way to get all my hair at the same length to grow it out evenly, which is what I’m currently doing!
Obviously, growing a pixie out is a long and tedious process, demanding good care and regular trimming if you don’t want to end up with a mullet (and no one wants that), so to keep myself motivated I’ve been looking at pretty hairstyles, from short to middle length, to help me look forward to the styles I’ll be able to sport along the way as my hair grows out.

Here are some of my favorites.

New Haircut: I chopped my hair off!

New Haircut

It was meant to happen, I finally got a new rather radical haircut yesterday!
I’d been thinking about cutting my hair short for a few months, and really decided on it about a month and a half ago, but I had to wait for my sidecut to grow back a little.
I’d had my sidecut for a little over two years and in the past 6 months I just wore my hair up almost constantly, which is always a sign … hair up most of the time + general feeling of boredom = urgent need of a haircut

And I absolutely don’t regret it! I’ve always been quite fearless when it comes to my hair so chopping the length off is not a problem if I know what I want.

I like that this cut will allow my hair to grow back evenly, but what I really love about it is how versatile it is.

I can do so much with it and it’s super fun! I also love the feeling of passing my hand through my hair now, it feels so much healthier and it looks way better. I love it!

What do you think? Have you ever considered short hair?

– Tony & Guy Prep Heat Protection Mist
I’m just gonna say it … this stuff is magic. It might be because I’d never used heat protection before (I tended to let my hair air dry) but this has really helped with my thin, dry and frizzy hair. It feels so much smoother and soft, and my best guy made a comment about my hair feeling healthier so it must make a big difference!

– Clarins Instant Smooth Concealing Base
I have to admit I’ve got no idea why I bought this in the first place. Don’t get me wrong, it is definitely a favourite, but I’ve had it for years and never used it very much as I wasn’t wearing any face makeup back then.
Well anyway, I’m glad I did! This is an awesome base, it smooths everything out, makes my pore less visible and my makeup looks so much better, I’ve been using it everyday since I re-discovered it.

– Revlon Brow Fantasy Pencil & Gel
I’d been using the Revlon Colorstay Eyebrow Liner for a few months, but I was never completely satisfied. It was too thick and creamy and always felt like it was leaving too much product on.
So when I ran out I looked for a different one and found this Brow Fantasy duo that I had heard about as it is fairly new, and I’ve been really happy with it. The pencil is drier and goes on well and the gel gives a dash of colour while maintaining everything in place. A very good brow product in my book!

– Urban Decay 24/7 Eye Pencil in Bourbon
Another re-discovery, this pencil is part of the little ‘Get Baked’ palette that I’ve had for years. I started using it for lazy days when I wasn’t feeling the really dark black liner look and it just works so well with a subtle, slightly smoky brown eye makeup. It’s a gorgeous dark brown shimmery shade that glides on perfectly, I might have to buy a full size one when I run out of mine!

– Bourjois Rouge Velvet Edition in 08
I’ve raved about this product in my review already and I had to put it in this month’s favourites. It’s such an amazing formula and so different from anything I’ve tried before. I’m definitely going to get more colors!

I got my hair cut!

Haircuts are not something I usually put a lot of money in, I’d rather buy good hair products and cut my hair myself but of course that limits the possibilities, as all I can do without ruining it is chopping a few centimeters off every now and then.
So when my lovely mother offered to pay for me to get my hair cut/coloured, I saw it as an opportunity to get a ‘real’ haircut.
I was a little hesitant about losing the length as the last 8 years of my life have been spent waiting for my hair to grow, but I actually really like the shoulder length. It suits my very thin and fine hair without feeling like I have short hair.

I’m very happy with it for now!

If you happen to be in Rouen, France, go have a look at Le Garage, it’s a really cute vintage-y salon with only one hairdresser, it’s very nice.
